The Leaders in Polled Purebred Akaushi Genetics

Slator Ranch is creator and birthplace of the first homozygous polled purebred Akaushi bulls in the World.  The Wagyu breeds, both Black and Red Akaushi, are horned animals with large horned bases.  There is no such thing as a “polled fullblood” Wagyu; the polled gene must come from another breed and therefore, all polled animals of 93.75 percent Wagyu or higher are called “purebreds.”  Because all Slator Ranch Akaushi cattle originated from our herd of polled Hereford and Angus cattle, the polled genes have been carefully preserved over the four generations of breeding back to full blood (100%) Japanese Akaushi bulls.  All of the original red Japanese US imports are present in our herd.  Homozygous means both genes are polled and because it is dominant, all offspring will receive a polled gene and not have horns, regardless of the horn status of the other parent.  Heterozygous polled means one gene is polled and the other gene is horned; offspring may not be polled if bred to a horned animal.

Slator Ranch is proud to introduce SLA Saisho PP Slator 197F (AP142949) born 1/27/2018.  “Saisho” is Japanese for “First” and He IS the First homozygous polled purebred (15/16) Akaushi in the World and F-11 free.  An excellent heifer bull, BW 54, WW of 458, Saisho has a relatively small head and narrow shoulders for calving ease.  He is an aggressive breeder with high fertility.  A proven sire, Saisho has many offspring on the ground and one daughter brought $32,500 as a 3 month old calf in a recent sale.  We have CSS and Australian certified semen available at $100.00 per straw. Saisho is the natural bred son of “Slator Ranch 15D” (AP111228) see below.

Our second elite homozygous polled bull is SLA Dainiji PP Slator 442G (AP169619) born 2/13/2019.  “Dainiji” (Japanese for “Second”) is a more muscular, deep bodied bull, BW 70 lb, with high growth and thickness throughout.  CSS and Australian certified semen available at $100.00 per straw.  Dainiji is a son of Slator Ranch 99E (AP144030) a massive long and deep bodied heterozygous polled bull (see below) with thickness throughout whose dam is a grand-daughter of H0518E.

Our third homozygous polled bull is SLA Sanban PP Slator 662H (AP200550) born 2/13/2020 and sequentially named. (“Sanban” is Japanese for “Third”)  A son of Slator Ranch 115E (AP144031), this youngster’s low birthweight of 60 lbs combined with more muscle and thickness provides the complete package.  Semen available at $100.00 per straw.  All three homozygous bulls are complete outcrosses to each other.  Pedigrees are available by registration number at https://akaushi.digitalbeef.com

Slator Ranch 15D, is our first all Red Heterozygous polled Akaushi bull born 1/10/2016 and the sire of Saisho 197F. With a birth weight of 62 pounds, and balanced genetics from all 4 major Red 1994 sire lines, this bull will complement any Akaushi or Black Wagyu herd. Add marbling to your cattle and minimize the hassle of dehorning! 15D is a naturally sired grandson of HB H0518E. He is ranch raised on grass, with sound structure and very gentle disposition.
